Join our Peace Partner Team!
Our sustaining monthly and one-time donors are essential to keeping us in action We are working to help create a significant cultural shift:
From punitive torestorative, War-making to peacebuilding, Incarceration to prevention & intervention, Bullying to conflict resolution education, Stress to inner peace You can help us make it a reality!
We are incredibly grateful to our team of committed Peace Partners, who are our sustaining monthly donors. We literally cannot do this work without their support. Membership in this group is a powerful way to contribute to peace.
"Being a Peace Partner with The Peace Alliance has moved me from being a despairing bystander to an active participant in the practical and tangible strategies of building a nonviolent world. Learning about the effective work that is being done, working to publicize the peacebuilders in our midst, and supporting legislation that inspires an intentional focus on making this work a policy priority -- this is what being a Peace Partner is all about." - Terry Mason, Encino, CA
The news headlines tell us everyday that we live in a violent world. We face a myriad of challenges, including war, gang violence, suicide, bullying, depression, domestic abuse, workplace conflict, personal stress and more. Violence isn’t just ‘out there’ – it is manifest in each of our lives.
At this moment in history it is imperative that we invest in and prioritize work and practices that can help foster thepeace that we all desire. We cannot do this without a large-scale constituency working to make it so. That is our core mission and the task before us. It's why we need your help!
While many believe that the challenges of violence and disharmony are insurmountable, we feel there is much to be hopeful about. Possibilities for peace flourish. From teachers who bring conflict resolution education into classrooms, to programs in prisons helping inmates turn their lives around, to sophisticated policies and efforts to avert violence from erupting in international conflict hot-spots, to a parent learning new skills and taking daily actions to become a better parent to their children -- from the personal to the socio-political, there are countless examples, both large and small.
This is the new face of peace. It is represented by thousands of peacebuilders and practitioners around the world, amplified by millions more who are learning, practicing, and advocating for this worldview. This growing movement is wholistic in perspective and it acknowledges a deeply interconnected planet. The Peace Alliance and Student Peace Alliance are among the leading organizations working to help harness and galvanize this momentum into a powerful new peace movement.
"This organization is on the leading edge... Through your organization the word spreads out among the people, so it becomes a more popular thing to be counted as one of the pilgrims, trying to lead us to this promised land of peace." ~Walter Cronkite
Quotes from Peace Partners:
"There are times when I cannot give as much of my time as I would like, and when I see my monthly contribution as a Peace Partner on my statement, it's something I can always feel good about. I see an investment in peaceful tomorrows that I know will pay more dividends than my other investments." ~ Lori Draper, Alaska
"My monthly donation to The Peace Alliance is an investment in the world I want my granddaughter to grow up in. Dennis Kucinich recently asked: "We spend so much time, so many resources human and financial, preparing for war. Why not begin to spend time and resources preparing for peace?" The Peace Alliance is doing just that - - spending time and resources preparing for peace. I hope you will join me as a peace partner." ~ Kendra Mon, Petaluma, CA
"I support The Peace Alliance because their work is very important to me. When deciding on charitable contribution, I try to give money to organizations whose aim is to decrease human suffering. Work of the Peace alliance fits perfectly. Violence prevention means decrease in suffering and also saves money. It makes perfect t sense to me! Especially in our society, where many people take violence/war as part of human condition. A lot of work needs to be done in this area, to educate people about creating a culture of peace. We need The Peace Alliance to coordinate this important endeavor." ~ Susan Krcmar, New Jersey
"Love, it is up to us all whether we choose to let it out or not. And the same goes with peace. We can have a Peace Poles, Peace Gardens, wear clothes with the peace symbol on them, draw peaceful sidewalk chalk art, and the list goes on, but ultimately, it comes down to whether we choose peace, and take action behind it, and go out into this planet and our communities to actively promote and strive for it. That is what I love about this group; that they actively engage in peace-building. They don't just talk the talk, they walk the walk!" ~ Kevin Szawala, Michigan
